Trinity United Church

Congratulations and Blessings
We know that marriage is both a special day and a holy commitment - A covenant you are making with each other. Many people love Muskoka and wish to celebrate their weddings here. The following information answers many questions that you may have.
Who can be married here?
- individuals both members and non-members of the congregation
- in the United Church there are no barriers against divorced persons marrying in the church
Marriage of Persons of Different Religions
Religious attitudes and practices in marriage will be considered during the interviews with clergy. Where it is appropriate and desired by the couple, clergy of another denomination are invited to share in the planning and conducting of the wedding.
Who may Officiate at the Ceremony?
The Minister of Trinity United Church will officiate at the ceremony. Other members or clergy may take part with the Trinity United Minister if desired by the couple. In certain circumstances, another Minister may officiate on her/his own but only with the agreement and permission of the Minister.
Consultation with the Minister
The first step to be taken by the prospective couple is to consult with the Minister at the earliest possible date. While a Minister represents the civil state in conducting the wedding, she or he is even more a representative of the church and a pastor. The Minister wants, therefore, to share with the couple as they lay the foundation for their new life together. The couple and Minister will have opportunity to get to know each other and plan the ceremony to be used.
Marriage Preparation Courses
Trinity offers a Marriage Preparation Course each spring. When you book your wedding date, the secretary will provide that information. If you are unable to attend, we strongly recommend you attend a course where you are living.
Place of the Wedding
Our Sanctuary holds approximately 210 people and our Chapel can accommodate about 30. Both are available for weddings.
Our Minister and retired Voluntary Associate Ministers are available for “off-site” weddings as well.
Date and Time of the Wedding
Our secretary will book the date and time for your wedding. If you change that date or time, please consult us. When there are two weddings on the same day, we leave 2 hours between ceremonies.
A booking fee of $50.00 is required and is non-refundable.
Music
Our Organist is available for all weddings. Other music or musicians are acceptable here but only after consultation with our organist.
This is a church so classical, or spiritual contemporary music is preferable. We do not generally use “Here Comes the Bride”.
